Minecraft in Education?

Yep, educators around the world are discovering that Minecraft provides infinite possibilities across curricular areas. Check out camp faculty member John Miller's recent class project.

If you can imagine it, you can build it.

What Students think about Minecraft at school

During lunch I asked a few of my students what they thought about using Minecraft at school. I found their answers insightful and likely helpful as others start to bring the "Ultimate Teaching Tool" to their school.

How can I use Minecraft in my classroom?

In the interview above, Joel Levin, one of the creators of the MinecraftEDU, summarizes various potential uses of the game in the classroom. We have designed our camp to showcase several key curricular elements that will allow teachers to create situations in which their students are challenged to problem solve, collaborate closely, and integrate multiple core concepts like writing, math, and science.

In the hands of capable and motivated teachers, Minecraft can be used to support learning in the following areas:

  • multiplication and division
  • fractions
  • circuitry
  • graphing
  • creativity
  • leadership
  • scale
  • physics
  • literature
  • visualization
